BEADED GEMSTONE COLLARS
Each beaded collar is done in a
freeform style, allowing the pattern to grow out from the center stone. My color
palette is derived from this cabochon. From there I like to reenact any activity
I see within the stone, allowing the piece to move, swirl, flow - incorporating
other gemstone beads, pearls, crystals, etc., as it progresses. I use only the
best quality seed beads, preferring smaller sizes to achieve better patterning,
and choose my embellishments, such as pearls and gemstones, for their
interesting colors, shapes, and characteristics.
The collars take on a life and
dimension when worn. People are always amazed at the transformation as soon as
they put them on. They acquire movement and light, conforming to the shape of
the body, and are very lightweight.
The fabulous thing about wearable art
is that each piece is unique and one of a kind. I am allergic to repetition, so
even the two sides are not symmetrical, but they are always balanced. The
closures at the back are fun, too, finished to look terrific coming or going.
